Charlotte Tilbury Mascara

I have been wanting to try Charlotte Tilbury makeup for a while now, and just haven’t gotten around to it, especially since Nordstrom seems to be the only place that carries the line in store and I haven’t lived near one for years! During a recent shopping trip, I picked up the Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Mascara to test out. This mascara retails for $32, and claims to provide extraordinary volume, giving lashes 13 times to volume with 3 coats. Since I was not born with naturally luscious lashes, I am always on the hunt for best volumizing mascara, so naturally I was exited about this one and its claims.

This purchase reminded me why I should read reviews before purchasing an item, especially one with a higher price tag. I was immediate let down by this mascara, and tried it a few times and had the same results every time. This mascara does go on well, but does not provide nearly the amount of volume as advertised. That honestly was not my main issue with this product though. My main gripe was that within 30 minutes of wear, this product would smudge all over my upper lids. Yes, I have hooded eyes so I am more prone to this with all products, but not on this level and so quickly. Maybe at the end of the day if theres a little bit of smudge on my lid I’ll cut a product some slack, but not like this. Within a short amount of wear time, this mascara was completely smudged all over! And to add insult to injury, when you try to remove this mascara, it smudges all over and is a complete nightmare to remove.

Needless to say, I returned this item. I was very disappointed in this mascara, especially from a higher end company. If you are looking for a high end voluming mascara that does work and won’t disappoint you, then I recommend either the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara, or the Lancome Grandiose Mascara

So I dragged my husband to the local apple orchard the other week with ideas of bountiful trees we could pick from and a lovely fall day. Instead it was hot, windy, and not a single apple on any of the trees. Such is life sometimes! Instead of being defeated by the failed outing, we picked up […]

This pasta disappears so fast in my house it’s unbelievable. This baked ziti with pumpkin and sage sausage is so comforting this time of year, and incorporates pumpkin into a savory dish in a subtle way.  This dish is incredibly flavorful, but comes together in under an hour for a weeknight meal. The pumpkin, combined with […]
